You can make money by selling your invention on the
internet
as a product.
Here are the 9 secrets to success in internet
marketing:
SECRET
1:
Create a clever name for your product. It also helps
to have a
clever name for your website. If possible use the
same name
for the website and the product. Remember that
the ".com"
name for your website is more memorable. There are
also
trademark considerations as discussed in the March edition of IDEA Matters.
On the first page of the website, use an image or
photograph of
your product, and a short movie of it in use. It's
always
effective to include a photograph of the inventor
with an audio
file of yourself describing your product. Also use a
link to
testimonials, either in a written or an audio format.
SECRET
2:
Create for yourself a list of what you image is the
ideal
customer: e.g., their age, gender, geographic
location, income,
what they like to do, listen to, read, what else they
like to buy.
This step ensures that your written copy is tailored
toward your
customers. Continually update your list because it
will evolve
as you learn more about who visits your site and
more
importantly, purchases your product.
SECRET
3: In
the description of your product on the website,
emphasize how
it solves a problem or improves the customer's life.
Testimonials are so important and should be placed
close to the
description of the product.
SECRET
4:
Explain how your product is unique and different from
what is
already available. This might be a place to tell the
story of how
you came to invent the product in your own quest to
solve a
problem that exists with the products of your
competitors.
SECRET
5:
Make an offer that is so outrageous that the
customer can't
refuse because they would feel like an idiot not to
grab the
opportunity. For example, setout the regular price for
your
product and then slash the price to by 50% if
purchased within
one week and 75% if purchased in one hour. You can
also
include several related products to further entice
your
customers. Later, when your product is already
known and
generates strong sales, you can increase the price or
offer
less.
SECRET
6: Use
limited time offers to create a sense of urgency in
the potential
buyers. As mentioned before, the price is reduced if
the
customer acts immediately. The urgency is felt more
strongly
when you can show that the price was much higher
before and
will go back in the near future.
SECRET
7:
Instruct the shopper to immediately purchase your
product and
make the purchasing process as simple as possible.
Be sure to
provide a secure way of collecting the money from
the sale.
SECRET
8:
Make time limited, special offers for add-on features
to the
product that the buyer will also want. This is
sometimes where
most of the profit is made from the sale.
SECRET
9:
Offer other products or services that complement
your product.
Here again, this is often the way your profit is made
from the
sale.
